11 Days Danakil Lalibela and Omo Valley Tour

Day 01: Fly to Mekele

Explore the beginning of the Danakil depression and go down to the hottest place on the planet. This is one of the most extreme places in Ethiopia. Drive to ErtaAel, is a continually active volcano containing the world’s only permanent Lava Lake.

Drive to Lake Afdera for refreshing on the nice Salt Lake where you can swim and relax after all the long treks in the Danakil depression.

Day 02: Drive to Dallol

It is one of the most inhospitable regions of the world but is nonetheless spectacular, full of eye-catching colors, as in the Sulphur springs.
Once you arrive at the campsite unload the car and take a short break after the short break drive to spend some time on Salt Lake and watch the awe-inspiring sunset.

Day 03: Dallol – Mekele

After lunch, drive back to Mekele for overnight.

Day 04: Mekele – Lalibela

Drive to Lalibela exploring yet another breathtaking view via the town of Sekota. This is route is less-traveled but amazingly refreshing and shows the typical countryside settlement and landscapes. En route, you will be able to visit Yimerehane Kristos Church close to Lalibela: this is a remarkable marble church built out of a big cave—an architectural combination of the Axumite kingdom and Zagwe Dynasty.

Day 05: Visit Lalibela

Lalibela: explore the magnificent rock-hewn churches, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tour the Rock-cut churches, world-class architecture. Lalibela, famous for monolithic rock-cut churches, representation of Jerusalem.

Day 06 : Lalibela- Addis Ababa – Langano

Fly to Addis Ababa and then drive to the Rift Valley Lake Langano. Relax at the Sabana Lodge.

Day 07 : Langano -Arba Minich

Drive to Arba Minch. visit a Dorze Village in the Guge Mountains. The Dorze are known for their tall, elephant-shaped bamboo houses.
Continue to mean destination. Arba Munich (Forty spring), is homed to the two famous lakes, Lake Chamo and Lake Abaya.

Day 08 : Arba Minich- Jinka

Take a boat trip on Lake Chamo and view some of the largest crocodiles, Hippopotami, and birdlife. Drive to Jinka. Stop at Key Afar’s weekly market (if on a Thursday) and wander among the various tribes such as the Benna and Ari and more.

Day 09: Jinka – Turmi

Early morning drive to the Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people. The Mursi women are known for the clay plates they insert into their lower lips.
Drive to Turmi to visit the Hamer people who are well

known for the unique practice of “bull-jumping” which every young man must accomplish prior to marriage.

Day 10: Omorate – Konso

Excursion to Omorate to visit the Dassanech people, known for their elaborate body painting. Cross the famous Omo River by canoe.
Return to Turmi.

Drive to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Konso are known for the ancient and intricate terraces that encircle their well-planned villages.

Day 11: Konso – Arba Minich- Addis Ababa

Take the first flight to return to Addis Ababa. City tour, including Holy Trinity Cathedral, Nation museum, and Merkato Market.

In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant featuring dancers and musicians representing some of the country’s many ethnic groups. Transfer to airport for departure
